Mystery hidden in our night sky

The night sky is an essential part of our nature, and we humans have been inspired by the starry sky for millennia. However our society has shifted the focus away from an essential part of our nature to seek contentment through cultures, consumerism and life. Our discontent is calmed, destroyed and we become a mediocre entity satisfied with things of life. Because the mind seeks very easily a drug to make it content with virtues, with qualities, with ideas, with actions, it establishes a routine and gets caught up in it. All our religious books, all our gurus, all political systems pacify the mind, quieten the mind, influence the mind to subside, to put aside discontent and wallow in some form of contentment.

If we examine the photos below we can see the diminutive silhouette of a sky-watcher in Iceland set against the grandeur of a double cosmic arch encapsulating the Milky Way and the northern lights. We can see a lone tree which appears to stand guard next to Canyon Lake, Arizona, under a canopy of stars in this early morning portrait. We can see the cosmic bridge leading to the hidden depths of the universe. The question is are we looking with our thoughts or our eyes?

The mystery is hidden in our night sky and within ourselves.
